What is a Daily Mental Health Plan? It’s knowing the things that are good for your mental wellbeing and doing them on a daily basis.

Creating a Daily Mental Health plan is about figuring out what works for you.

All of us varied amazing humans have mental wellbeing and what works for you might be different from what helps your friends, family or co-workers. 

Sir John Kirwan shares his Daily Mental Health Plan below.

For JK, his Daily Mental Health Plan includes things like being mindful in his morning shower, cooking a delicious meal, and reading before bed.

Chances are you’re already doing things like this daily! Putting it into a plan helps make it a priority and remind yourself what to do look after your mental wellbeing.

Let’s dive into how you can create a Daily Mental Health Plan!

We’ll show you 3 different ways using Collections, a new feature in the app which lets you organise and curate your favourite tools and content in Mentemia. 

To get started, write down your usual daily routine. Make a list of all of the things you do daily to look after your mental wellbeing. That could include:
- Breathing exercises, meditation or mindfulness
- Gentle stretching or yoga
- Exercise like walking, running, or hitting the gym
- Reading, playing the guitar, listening to music
- Cooking, enjoying your favourite herbal tea or coffee
- Getting out in nature or watching the sky 

Now let’s turn that into a Daily Mental Health Plan.

  1. Create a Daily Mental Health Plan Collection in Mentemia.

    • Go into the Mentemia app and create a Collection following these steps

    • Create a Collection called Daily Mental Health Plan

    • Find the tools and content in the app that help you with your daily mental wellbeing, and add them into your Daily Mental Health Plan Collection. Here’s a suggested plan:

    • Gentle stretching to start the day and ideas for daily treats for when you need a pick-me-up. Stress-busting techniques for the afternoon. Stretches before bed and sleep visualisation to help you get to sleep. Worry Map to release night-time worries and the Kindness Wheel to plan one act of kindness for the next day. 

2. Create Morning, Day and Evening Collections for your Daily Mental Health Plan

  • Go into the Mentemia app and create your Collections following these steps.

  • Create 3x Collections for Morning, Day and Evening.

  • Add the tools and content into each Collection. Here. are some suggestions:

  • Morning: Add the Kindness Wheel and decide one act of kindness you’ll do that day. If you like to start the day listening to a relaxing track, add those in.

  • Day: Find yourself getting low energy in the afternoon? Add in some energising exercises or list of energising and nutritious food.

  • Evening: Finish your day with some calming Breath Training to relax before bed.

3. Create your Daily Mental Health Plan by wellbeing theme

  • Go into the Mentemia app and create your Collections following these steps.

  • Create as many Collections as you need for your mental wellbeing focuses. They could be Sleep, Exercise, and Mindfulness.

  • Add the tools and content into each Collection. Here are some suggestions:

  • Sleep: Add articles like how to create bedtime rituals and 5 ways to relax your mind at bedtime for better sleep. You could also add in some relaxing tracks to listen to before bed, like the birdsong by the river track.

  • Exercise: Add in the 10-minute morning mobility workout if you like working out first thing in the AM. If you’re into gentle exercise add in some content on stretching and yoga. Looking to get back into fitness? Add the article on how to restart exercising.

  • Mindfulness: Add your favourite mindfulness content, like 4 mindfulness recordings to calm your mind and 6 mindfulness moments for daily life.
