Matt Krogstad
CEO

  • Matt is a seasoned leader in high-growth B2B and B2C environments, with extensive experience across sales, partnerships, product, and operations. Throughout his career, Matt has driven growth and innovation, with a passion for building cohesive, high-performing teams.

    Over the past five years, he has led Product Management at San Francisco-based startups, overseeing 5x+ YoY growth and contributing to over $500M in debt and equity raises within mission-driven finance sectors. Earlier in his career, Matt was employee #9 at M-Com, a New Zealand fintech success story co-founded by Groov’s Adam Clark, where he played a pivotal role in expanding from a single banking client to hundreds before its acquisition by Fiserv Inc. in 2011.

    Matt’s diverse background in both startups and enterprises has shaped his expertise in scaling businesses and fostering collaborative cultures.

    In his personal time, he likes nothing more than spending time with his wife and 2 young children aged 4 and 6 and “first born” labrador aged 8.

Dr Laura Hamill

  • Laura Hamill, PhD, is an accomplished organizational psychologist and business leader specializing in the fusion of science and HR to drive positive workplace transformation.

    As Chief Science Advisor at Groov, Laura leads the development of science-backed frameworks that enable organizations to build resilient, high-performing teams.

    Previously, Laura co-founded Limeade, where as Chief People and Science Officer, she played a pivotal role in shaping innovative approaches to employee experience. Before Limeade, she directed People Research at Microsoft, bringing data-driven insights into organizational strategy to foster a culture of engagement and growth.

    A recognized thought leader in organizational psychology, Laura frequently speaks at industry conferences and has been featured in publications like Fast Company, Forbes, and Inc. She is also the host of the Happy at Work podcast, where she explores strategies for thriving workplace cultures with leading experts. Laura’s upcoming book, co-authored with The Economist, offers a deep dive into building strong organizational cultures and is set for release in 2024.

    Laura holds a Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Old Dominion University and lives with her family in Woodinville, Washington.

Leonard Roseman

  • Leonard Roseman is a highly experienced consultant and data scientist with a rich background in credit risk management, statistical analysis, and financial technology innovations. He holds a Ph.D. in Statistics from Harvard University and a BA in Physics from Swarthmore College.

    Leonard's professional journey includes significant roles such as the Chief Data Scientist at both Mission Lane and LendUp, where he focused on creating financial services and products for the emerging middle class facing credit or income volatility challenges.

    Before his tenure at Mission Lane and LendUp, Leonard served as the Head of Group Decision Sciences at Commonwealth Bank of Australia and spent over a decade as the VP of Statistical Analysis at Capital One in Richmond, Virginia.

    Since August 2020, he has been self-employed as a consultant, working on projects like developing FDIC-compliant Credit Risk Management Policies for banks partnering with Fintechs and experimental designs for determining price elasticity of demand for a multi-state used-vehicle dealer.

    Leonard's career reflects a commitment to leveraging data science to improve financial health and accessibility for underserved populations.

Darren Zhu

  • Darren brings a wealth of expertise in leading high-performance engineering teams and architecting transformative SaaS platforms.

    At Groov, Darren serves as VP of Engineering, where he drives the development and evolution of our technology solutions, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and at the cutting edge of workplace science innovation.

    Prior to Groov, Darren served as SVP of Engineering at TigerConnect, where he led global engineering efforts to enhance their communication and collaboration platform.

    His career began as Engineer #2 at M-Com, later acquired by Fiserv, where he led architecture teams overseeing major financial solutions across the U.S., New Zealand, and Australia.

Dr David Codyre

Dr David Codyre
Chief Clinical Advisor

  • David is a psychiatrist with 30 years experience working in the community mental health sector in New Zealand, in a range of clinical and leadership roles. He has spent the past 15 years leading development of primary mental health programmes, and advocating at a regional and national level for strengthening of primary mental health capacity, along with better support for primary care from secondary mental health services.

    David currently works with East Tamaki Healthcare, a network of clinics providing team-based primary care services to populations in high-needs areas of Auckland, NZ, where he has lead development of an innovative and comprehensive programme integrated into GP clinics, and supporting patients with both mental health and medical long term conditions. He is also Lead psychiatrist to the National Telehealth Service.

    David was awarded the Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in January 2020 for services to mental health.

Dr Fiona Crichton, PhD
VP Behavioural Science

  • Dr Fiona Crichton is a health psychology specialist with over a decade of experience developing programs to enhance health behaviors and mental wellbeing.

    As VP of Behavioral Science at Groov, Fiona applies her expertise to create evidence-based solutions that foster resilience and adaptive change in workplaces and communities alike. Her research on placebo and nocebo effects, published in numerous high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, has advanced understanding of psychological influences on health outcomes.

    With a background in law, including roles as a litigation lawyer and legal writer, Fiona brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective, combining clinical expertise with a nuanced understanding of behavioral and societal factors. She is strongly committed to improving mental health on a broad scale across New Zealand and beyond, ensuring Groov’s approach is both scientifically grounded and impactful.

    A recognized speaker and presenter, Fiona regularly shares insights on health psychology and behavioral science at conferences and professional forums, translating complex scientific concepts into accessible, actionable strategies. Through Groov Together, she is available for workplace coaching, consulting, workshops, keynotes, and more.

Sir John Kirwan
Co-founder

  • Sir John Kirwan is a globally recognised mental health advocate, author, entrepreneur, and rugby legend. He's the co-founder of Groov, a leader in workplace science and people analytics technology, lifting people and performance in organisations around the world.

    In 2012, JK was knighted for his services to mental health – an honour he strives to live up to every day. He’s long been at the forefront of public campaigns about mental heath. JK was one of the first high profile athletes to help normalise conversations about mental health, and that vulnerability has paved the way for others to open up about their own experiences.

    Many people also know JK as a sporting legend. He played 63 test matches for the All Blacks from 1984 to 1994 and was part of the winning 1987 Rugby World Cup team. He also played for the Warriors and had success as a rugby coach, including on the international stage with Italy and Japan.

    JK is a family man who likes nothing better than to surf, cook, and make a perfect cup of coffee. He lives in Auckland with his wife, Fiorella. They have three children, now grown and pursuing their dreams throughout the world.

Adam Clark

  • Adam is one of the leading tech entrepreneurs in New Zealand. He was co-founder and CEO of mobile banking software provider M-Com which was acquired by Fiserv in 2011 and now serves over 3,000 banks around the world.

    Since returning to New Zealand in 2012, Adam has participated in the establishment and growth of many of New Zealand’s most promising software companies including two further exits via acquisition.

    Adam has felt the impact of emotional distress both himself and through those close to him. As founder and CEO of a high growth business Adam experienced the intense stress and anxiety and the associated impact on life so often encountered by those in that position.

Aaron Tregaskis

  • Aaron has over 20 years private markets investment experience with an early stage tech focus. Prior to ACC he was an investment director and investment committee member at NZVIF (now NZGCP) that oversaw the deployment of over $150m in over 200 companies. Aaron has also worked as a portfolio manager of a listed international equities fund based in London and worked with an investment consultant advising UK pension funds on equity manager selection.

Dr Ainsleigh Cribb-Su'a
  • Dr Ainsleigh Cribb-Su’a (Ngāti Maniapoto, Ngāti Tamaterā, Ngāti Kauwhata) is a Clinical Psychologist who has worked extensively in Child and Adolescent Mental Health both clinically and in leadership roles.

    She is on the NZ Psychologists Board, and has worked in governance across academia and the NGO sector. She is currently a clinical consultant for Fresh Minds, a social enterprise that provides mind, mood and wellbeing services via a variety of therapy options.

    Ainsleigh is also a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society and a participating member of the National Standing Committee for Bicultural Issues.

Dr Ainsleigh Cribb-Su’a

  • Stephen Hinshaw, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley, where he previously served as Department Chair from 2004 to 2011. Additionally, he holds the position of Vice Chair for Psychology and serves as a Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco.

    Dr. Hinshaw earned his B.A. from Harvard University with summa cum laude honors. Before pursuing his doctorate in clinical psychology at UCLA, he directed alternative education programs and ran residential summer camps. His research centers on developmental psychopathology, clinical interventions—particularly mechanisms of therapeutic change—and the stigma surrounding mental illness, with a primary emphasis on ADHD.

    His work has received widespread media coverage, appearing in prominent newspapers and magazines, as well as on major television networks such as NBC's Today Show, CBS Evening News, ABC World News Tonight, and CNN, among others.

  • MBCHB FRANZCP. Dr. Foliaki is a graduate of the Otago University School of Medicine and became a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2006. He has dual fellowship as both an adult and child psychiatrist and has played senior clinical roles within the Counties Manukau District Health Board as a Consultant Psychiatrist. Dr. Foliaki has many years of clinical experience in addiction psychiatry and has been active in psychiatric research.

Dr Jeffrey Krebs
  • MD FACP. Dr. Krebs is an Internal Medicine specialist in San Diego, California. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Diego and completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Dr. Krebs is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a designation of distinction in the Internal Medicine community. He was a Partner Physician for 30 years with Kaiser Permanente, the largest managed care organization in the US, and continues to practice medicine as a Partner Emeritus. He is an Associate Clinical Professor at U. C. San Diego School of Medicine and on the active hospital teaching faculty at Kaiser Permanente for the Family Medicine Residency program.
